GloRilla is giving credit for her banner year to a 2023 post from a fan that said she’d fallen off.
Taking to X on Wednesday (September 4), Glo posted an October 2023 tweet that read: “Glorilla fell off so fast and bad [crying emojis].”
With a retweet, she shared her testimony.
“I remember bookmarking dis & telling myself ‘Dey gotchu fucked up so bad,’” she wrote. “dis post ain’t do shit but put a battery in my back i needed dat. don’t let dese people write yo story for you , Keep going !!!”

GloRilla achieved major success with her 2022 breakout single “FNF,” then followed it up with another successful single “Tomorrow.” Cardi B hopped on the latter and made it even bigger.
However, she seemed to lose momentum in 2023 and even ended up blocking popular streamer Kai Cenat after he criticized her Fivio Foreign-assisted single “Cha Cha Cha,” a song that gained little to no traction.
She came back with a vengeance in 2024, though, with her singles “Yeah Glo!” and “Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion both cracking the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. She also found viral success with her track “TGIF,” which was even complimented by Rihanna.
Rih was so impressed, in fact, she slid into Glo’s DMs saying: “You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical but when the album drop?”
The Memphis native shared the message in a recap of her visit to the 2024 BET Awards.
Rihanna’s question had many fans in stitches, with one joking: “Ri asking for an album is diabolical asf.”
Another said: “Rihanna play to much! Tell her to jump on the album!!!”
And as a further testament to her ongoing success, GloRilla was honored in her hometown of Memphis with a key to the city this week – and she received it on the perfect day.
Home to the 901 area code, Memphis celebrates ‘901 Day’ on September 1, which became the day Big Glo received her key to Bluff City.
Memphis Mayor Paul Young, rapper/songwriter Kia Shine and more were on hand to help celebrate the CMG rapper’s achievement.
Sharing photos of the day to Instagram, Glo said: “Memphis made me Frayser raised me [teary eyed emoji] I got da key to my cityyyyy ahhhhh [celebration emojis] Happy 901 day MEMPHIS!!!!!!”
