Jadakiss has revealed that he suffered a nasty accident, leading to him needing to use a cane once owned by The Notorious B.I.G.
During The LOX‘s surprise performance at Essence Fest earlier this summer, Jada was seen using a cane to get about on stage after appearing to have sustained an injury.
Kiss later revealed on social media that the cane was in fact Biggie’s and he got it out of storage for the performance. He was also seen sitting the entire time during The LOX’s recent Tiny Desk Concert for NPR.
In the latest episode of the group’s 2 Jews & 2 Black Dudes podcast with ItsTheReal, the Yonkers legend detailed the incident that led to his injury.
“A car backed up into my knee the first week in June,” he said. “It wasn’t going that fast but it was still a car. [It happened at] a gas station in White Plains.
“[The driver] got out. He can’t apologize after that. I don’t wanna hear sorry; I’m fucking on the floor! He was just backing up, he didn’t know how to drive, he didn’t have a license. He was driving his girl’s car.”
Jada then explained the damage done to his knee: “I got an X-ray, an MRI, all that. I had a fractured knee cap and I got a tear in my meniscus, but if you work around it, you don’t gotta get the surgery.
He added: “I’m about 70-something-percent [healed] … Every day, after I go to the gym, I go to treatment.”
Before his injury, Jadakiss was known for his high-level of fitness.
Last year, he gave fans a glimpse into his workout routine by filming himself performing some impressive calisthenics inside a gymnasium.
Despite wearing thick winter clothes in the video, the 49-year-old grabbed a gymnastic ring in each hand, pulled himself up and suspending himself above ground, before rotating his body 360 degrees.
Jada has also shown enthusiasm to compete in the NBA’s All-Star Celebrity Game but that may now be on ice due to his injury.
He previously explained in an interview with Sneaker Lounge that he was annoyed the league had repeatedly snubbed him for the annual celebrity game.
“I exhausted my resources,” he said. “I called everybody I know. I emailed, I text. I been working out, I been putting clips on the ‘Gram. I been going my hardest and I still got snubbed. I gotta stop getting snubbed for the Celebrity All Star Game.”
Kiss then detailed everything he’d been doing to prove himself worthy of inclusion, cracking the host up along the way: “I been a taxpaying, clean citizen, a great father, I’m drinking water, I’m voting, I bought the church new Bibles. I did everything and they still snubbed me!”
Appearing to prophesize his knee injury, he added: “Don’t wait ‘til my moneymakers blow out and then call me and I’m looking horrible out there. I gotta play while I still got some fluidity in my knees.”
