ComingSoon is pleased to present an exclusive track from the Pachinko Season 2 soundtrack featuring music by Nico Muhly. Listen to “The Family” below.
“For Season 2, I had the luxury of writing primarily to picture, but also the freedom to write thematic material in long-form, almost like chamber music. Although the final score is 90% written to picture, the suite of thematic material was incredibly useful in order to attach material and instrumentation to each character,” says Muhly. “So Hugh and Suzana Perić (the music editor), and I trusted one another deeply, so the process was very organic. We were working within the confines of a small chamber ensemble, so I had to be clever about ways to bulk up the music while keeping it intimate.”
Lakeshore Records is set to release Pachinko Season 2 — Apple TV+ Original Series Soundtrack digitally on August 23. The score reflects the epic drama with dynamic strings, piano, and orchestra that augment the continuation of the grand historical drama in Korea, Japan, and America to tell an unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. The series — based on the acclaimed New York Times bestselling novel by the same name and created by Soo Hugh — premieres today on Apple TV+.
