Nicki Minaj has appeared to cut ties with Ice Spice and JT from the City Girls after unfollowing the duo on Instagram.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed on Wednesday (August 21) that neither Spice nor JT no longer appear on Nicki’s list of followed accounts on the social media platform.
The Bronx and Miami natives are still following the Young Money legend, though, as of writing.
It was previously assumed that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice had a close relationship after collaborating on hits like “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World.” However, the latter recently admitted that’s not the case.
“We don’t have the closest relationship, you know? But we’re definitely good. We’re mutuals. We had smash records together. I love us together. I think the world does too,” Ice told Rolling Stone last month.
The “Munch” star also elaborated on text messages of hers that were leaked a few months ago in which she expressed frustration at Nicki over the business details of their “Barbie World” collab.
“I don’t really think [Nicki] cares about shit like that coming from a random girl,” she said. “But what I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations. I could have chose different words.
“But at the end of the day, regardless of how I felt in that moment, [Nicki] is still somebody I respect as an artist, and I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture.”
Minaj has been more outwardly antagonistic towards JT, although it appeared they had put their past issues behind them.
She previously said she would never work with the rapper or her former City Girls partner Yung Miami after an old diss track aimed at her surfaced online.
“The thing is, whenever you post something on the internet, it’s there forever. Whenever you say something in an interview, it’s there forever,” Nicki explained in an interview with The Morning Hustle in 2022.
“So if I, as a regular human, was about to go to dinner with you tonight and then I get something that says, ‘Yo, she don’t really fuck with you like that, she was saying this and she don’t really like you, and she said she hopes you actually never pop or never flourish’… I’m not going out to dinner with you anymore because now I know that I like you but you really don’t like me.”
She added: “That’s just a human way to feel, if you hear somebody was saying things about you — not just one thing — but repeated things, repeated tweets for years, not just one thing … It’s let go. It’s let’s go, but it’s about, why would I work with somebody who doesn’t like me?”
