Netflix has finally announced the release date for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story starring Javier Bardem in his first collaboration with Ryan Murphy.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, also called Monsters Season 2, is a follow-up to 2022’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story starring Evan Peters as the titular serial killer. This time, dramatizing yet another true crime story, the second installment will explore the case of real-life brothers who were convicted for the murders of their parents.
The series will arrive on the streamer on Thursday, September 19, at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.
Monsters Season 2 intends to make audiences wonder, “Who are the real monsters?” Per the official synopsis, the series will chronicle the case of Lyle and Erik, “who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise ‘Kitty’ Menendez. While the prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, the brothers claimed — and remain adamant to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole — that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.”
