Call her a sewing machine because she’s just going to be a singer. Chappell Roan confirms to Bowen Yang in an interview that she has no acting dreams beyond performing on a concert stage, despite initially using music as a way into Hollywood. “I say this with peace, and love, and blessings. Actors are fucking crazy,” Roan explained. “Like, I get so freaked out by film people. I’ve been asked in the past couple of weeks, like, ‘You want the lead in XYZ?’ and I’m like, ‘No.’” Okay, but which genius casting director was trying to get Roan to the top of the call sheet? Someone spill, I’m listening…
Despite everyone’s yearning for more Roan, she does have valid reservations about Hollywood. She continues, “The industry is legitimately so scary, and it is so out of my control. I can put out music whenever I want. I don’t have to wait for a casting director to be like, ‘It would be great if we cast you, and then we’ll decide your schedule for the next three months.’” However, being on screen isn’t completely off of the table: “I think it would have to be really specific and really silly. I would maybe do a cameo.” We know the perfect people who write silly cameos: Abbott Elementary. It’s a match made in heaven; Principal Ava would definitely be a member of the Pink Pony Club.
