“Always nothing but love for Kesha,” Pitbull said Sunday
There’s no “Timber” without Kesha‘s iconic chorus! Just days after fans noticed that Kesha was no longer listed in the credits for Pitbull‘s “Timber” video, the singer’s name reappeared on the 2013 YouTube video’s title on Monday.
Over the weekend, fans noticed that the song was only listed as “Pitbull – Timber (Official Video).” After the initial issue was pointed out to him on Sunday, Pitbull shared on X that he would have his team look into the credit removal and get the issue addressed.
“@KeshaRose and I have an incredible song together. Nothing will change this,” Pitbull wrote. “Team Pitbull is looking into this matter. Always nothing but love for Kesha, Dale!”
As of Monday, the song is listed as “Pitbull, Ke$ha – Timber (featuring Ke$ha – Official Video).”
It’s unclear why Kesha’s name had been removed from the 2013 track’s video, though some fans had speculated it had to do with her legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, who’s credited as a songwriter and producer for the Meltdown song. It is currently still unclear what led to the original change in credit.
“Timber” continues to be both Kesha and Pitbull’s most-streamed song to date on Spotify, reaching 1.54 billion streams on the platform since its release in 2013. (Both artists continue to perform the hit on tour.)
Kesha has been re-embracing her early 2010s sonic as she released “Joyride,” which Rolling Stone named one of the songs of the summer. For his part, Pitbull reconnected with Ne-Yo for “2 the Moon,” reconnecting the two artists who’ve collaborated on hits “Give Me Everything” and “Time of Our Lives.”
