H-Money x Reekado Banks – “Tic Tik”
Nigeria’s Reekado Banks was recently featured on a new song by acclaimed songwriter and producer Harmony Samuels, (a.k.a. H-MONEY). H-Money has worked with A-list artists such as Ariana Grande and Janet Jackson. For this new single “Tic Tik”, he crafted an infectious afrobeat track with hints of pop. “Tic Tik” serves as the first single taken from H-MONEY’s upcoming EP titled Fro & Bee EP.

CDQ x Serenità – “One Night”
Nigerian rapper CDQ joined forces with South African singer Serenità for a new tune called “One Night”. A flavourful fusion Afrobeats and R&B, the romance-hinged melodious song arrived accompanied by a cinematic video. “One Night” is CDQ’s first single of 2024 and marks the first time he is rapping entirely in English. The artist is known for delivering his lyrics in his native Yoruba language. Last year, CDQ released an album titled Mood and Ecstasy, and as result saw a significant growth in his fanbase. This song does prove his creative versatility.

Lyzaira – “PERDE NO AR”
Based in the Netherlands and with roots from Cape Verde, Lyzaira has constantly been releasing music since 2022. She is a talented singer-songwriter with an ability to fuse genres and captivate listeners with her personal tales. Lyzaira’s newest single “PERDE NO AR” captures her style succinctly. The sultry afropop/afro-fusion song was paired with an alluring visual filmed by Paperclips Media. For some of one us who are just discovering this interesting artist, “PERDE NO AR” is a great way to enter her music world.

Verchi – “Balanciego”
African popular music is evolving at a very fast pace. One song that perfectly captures that sentiment is “Balanciego” by Nigerian artist Verchi. Blending afrobeats, amapiano and mainstream pop, the song offer listeners an enjoyable listening experience. And Verchi did an amazing job with the music video too. “Balanciego” is is lifted from VERCHI’s forthcoming EP, AFRO-DIET.

Ala Nkolika x Lil Wyte – “Leg Up”
Earlier this year, US-based singer Ala Nkolika scored a hit with her debut single, “C’est la vie”, showcasing her vibrant afrobeat style. She has proceeded to release two more tracks, “Leg Up” being of them. “Leg Up” features rapper Lil Wyte. It is upbeat and danceable, but still quite lyrical. The song arrived with an engrossing music video which exhibits some amazing dance choreography. Nkolika is one to watch for sure.

Bien x Adenkule Gold x ShineTTW – “Wahala”
Kenyan singer and songwriter Bien released the deluxe version of his solo debut album, Alusa Why Are You Topless?, last month. Alongside “Ma Cherie Remix”, “Wahala” featuring Adenkule Gold and ShineTTW, is one of the songs included in the deluxe version. “Wahala” is quite an addictive song. It has since received a great accompanying video.

Mr Eazi – Panadol”
Afropop superstar Mr Eazi has just unveiled the music video for his song “Panadol”. The visual is stunning in all aspects. It was shot in London, and directed by Mollana Burke. The “Panadol” video arrives close to one year since Mr Eazi released The Evil Genius, the album which the song is taken from. With cheeky, sensual lyrics, “Panadol” is one of my favourite tracks on The Evil Genius.

1da Banton – “Digest”
With Afrobeat arriving at the global stage in the last couple of years, Nigerian singer 1da Banton is one of the artists representing that revolution. His “No Wahala” single still features on many fans’ playlists. 1da returned towards at the end of July with a new single, “Digest”. This is actually a 2-track single carrying the title-track, as well as a song called “Paid In Full”. Both tracks are what we expect from the artist: totally captivating. “Digest” has an accompanying video.

Deaj – “HFMG”
You’ve probably never heard of Deaj, but the Nigerian artist is worth keeping tabs on. He recently released an electrifying single called “HFMG”. Produced by Ransom Beatz and mixed/mastered by the artist, this high-tempo track combines elements from hip hop, amapiano and afrobeats. “HFMG” is energetic yet quite catchy. Its confident vibe makes it a great street anthem.
