Executive producer and director Michael Green has officially shared an update regarding the current status of Netflix‘s Blue Eye Samurai Season 2. This comes after nearly a year since the adult animated series debuted its first 8-episode season.
What’s the current status of Blue Eye Samurai Season 2?
During a recent interview, Green confirmed that fans will have to wait a little longer for the next installment of Blue Eye Samurai, revealing that they’re currently targeting a 2026 return date for the acclaimed series. At the moment, Season 1 is currently nominated for two Emmy awards, including Outstanding Animated Program and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.
“We’ve written more than half [and] we’re starting to produce the first two,” Green said (via The Direct). “When we’re finished with one more interview, we’re going to look at some early storyboards for the first episode, and it’s not the first round that’s come in.”
Blue Eye Samurai is created, written, and executive produced by Green and Amber Noizumi. Set in Edo-period Japan, the series follows Mizu, a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking the deliverance of revenge.
