Sharon Stone may have a black eye, bur she’s urging her supporters not to worry.
The “Basic Instinct” star had revealed the injury Wednesday in an Instagram photo from Turkey, leading to shock and widespread concern for the actor. But she shared a video the following day to address people’s fears — and to assure everyone that her overseas vacation is going swimmingly.
“I know you’re all worried about how I got a black eye, so I thought I’d let you know,” said Stone, wearing sunglasses.
“I’ve been in so many hotels in so many countries that I got up in the middle of the night to pee and didn’t know where I was and smacked my face on the marble. No, nobody did anything to me. And, yes, I’m just fine and I’m having a great time.”
Pulling up her shades to show how the black eye appears now, Stone said, “It’s getting better, but it really is a good-looking shiner.”
She added with a smile, “You should see what I did to that marble floor.”
Some social media users reacted to Stone’s injury with baseless conspiracy theories that she had undergone an initiation ritual for a shadowy “Black Eye Club” filled with celebrities and world leaders. Of course, no evidence of this exists.
Stone was among the biggest stars of the 1990s. She acted in iconic films like “Casino” and “Total Recall,” working with directors as acclaimed as Martin Scorsese and Barry Levinson before suffering a stroke and brain bleed in 2001 that she said nearly ended her career. At the time, doctors said she only had about a 1% chance of survival after surgery.
The actor has since shared personal details about not just her health but also her financial losses from the medical episode. She’s also discussed a past instance of experiencing sexual harassment.
Stone has kept busy, supporting various charity campaigns and raising awareness about diseases like breast cancer and AIDS. Her acting work hasn’t been forgotten, however; she received a lifetime achievement award at Italy’s Taormina Film Festival last month.
Amid her current travels, the actor has shared photos from Cannes, France, and Rome — where she was pictured strolling the streets with one of her sons.
Stone concluded Thursday’s video by expressing gratitude to her fans.
“Thanks so much for caring about me,” she said. “I care about you, too.”
