Dolly Parton's new album, Blue Smoke, comes out May 13.

TidalWave Comics has released a series of comic books with strong female protagonist the company calls the “Female Force”. The latest character in development is based on country singer Dolly Parton and the project is set to include many inspirational features for women. “Female Force: Dolly Parton” is a 22-page project that will be released on March 31 in both print and digital editions.

Readers can expect the main character to be diverse in her abilities just like the real Dolly Parton who has won 11 Grammy Awards and has sold over 100 million records since her debut at the end of the 60s.

Earlier this month, the singer posted a video of herself getting the COVID-19 vaccination while singing her hit song “Jolene” and changing the lyrics to “vaccine” as a way of encouraging others to do the same. She donated $1 million to help fund early-stage research by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee with the development of its Moderna version of the vaccine.

“Writing about Dolly was a joy,” said writer Michael Frizell said in a statement. “Her creativity, philanthropy and humanity are legendary.”

As it relates to the new comic book, Parton joins a list of other powerful women who have also had characters developed and shared stories through comics and other forms of literature. She joins the former first lady Michelle Obama, Cher, women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem and nun Mother Teresa.

“We’ve found a niche with our bio comics,” TidalWave publisher Darren G. Davis said. “There is a much wider audience for sequential storytelling than many have thought. These readers are simply looking for something other than superheroes.”

The comic is written by Michael Frizell and art designed by Ramon Salas.

“We’ve found a niche with our bio comics,” said TidalWave publisher Darren G. Davis. “Our success with this comic shows that there is a much wider audience for sequential storytelling than many have thought. These readers are simply looking for something other than superheroes. With our bio comics, we strive to bring these new readers evenhanded, well-researched looks at some of their favorite celebrities.”

Frizell stated, “Writing about Dolly was a joy. I’m thrilled with the expressive way the artist visualized the pages. The book feels timeless. Her creativity, philanthropy, and humanity are legendary.”

Other aspects that make her a good candidate for this opportunity is Parton’s commitment to philanthropy, in addition to funding research for COVID-19 vaccines she also has founded the Imagination Library and the Dolly Parton Foundation.

In addition to the comic book line, Parton is also getting her own flavor of ice cream according to Jeni’s Splendid Icecream. The artisan brand which is based in Ohio will include all natural ingredients and will have a release date coming soon. Information about the exact flavor has not been released yet, but the proceeds are set to go to the Dolly’s Imagination Library which focuses on childhood education, especially increasing literacy rate. Her organization combined with the new comic series is going to provide a lot of content to young readers that will educate them on a variety of different subjects.
