Since her recovery in 2018, Demi Lovato is appearing in a third documentary about the importance of health and wellness. Lovato disclosed that she experienced three strokes and a heart attack after her widely-reported drug overdose. The singer had been taken to a hospital in Los Angeles after relapsing. Prior to the overdose, Lovato had been sober for six consecutive years.
Now she is discussing the dangers of addiction in the upcoming YouTube documentary-Dancing With the Devil. A new trailer has been released for the documentary.
“I had three strokes,” Lovato said. “I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes.” Lovato also stated that she is still living with the affects of the overdose, which includes brain damage and blind spots in her vision that prevents her from driving.
“I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don’t drive a car because there are blind spots in my vision. I also for a long time had a really hard time reading,” she said. “I feel like they kind of are still there to remind me of what could happen if I ever get into a dark place again.”
It is Lovato’s hope that she will be able to “set the record straight” with the new documentary. While one of her friends in the documentary discusses how the singer almost died, Lovato expressed: “I’ve had a lot of lives, like a cat. I’m on my ninth life. ”Sir Elton John also appears in the trailer and states: “When you’re young, and you’re famous, my God, it’s tough.”
She added: “I’m grateful for those reminders, but also I’m so grateful that I was someone who didn’t have to do a lot of rehabbing. The rehabbing came on the emotional side and the therapeutic side, internally. I did a lot of work after that — just not physically.”
The four-part documentary, Dancing With the Devil, is directed by Michael Ratner who document’s Lovato’s recovery, life and career since 2018. One of the most important segments of the documentary is showing a representation of what Lovato had to go through with her health. He is tasked with the objective of displaying of what Lovato calls her “miracle day” when she began to stabilize and realize that she should would have the chance of fighting against her illnesses.
Unfortunately, this has been a long struggle for Lovato who appeared in the 2012 documentary, Stay Strong, after she had to cancel her tour with the Jonas Brothers. In 2017’s, Simply Complicated, Lovato shared more details about her health and experiences in rehab than in the previous documentary. The new documentary is set to release on YouTube on March 23.According to the YouTube page, the documentary is “an intimate portrait of addiction” and “the process of healing and empowerment.”

She has millions of fans who are all rooting for her to be successful. After expressing her emotions in the new documentary, she’ll be able to physically and mentally return to doing what she does best, which is create and sing great songs.
