Editor’s Note: This list of the 10 Best Oasis Songs originally ran in May 2014. We are dusting it off in hopes of celebrating an Oasis return the best way we could imagine — by encouraging petty disagreements over the internet.
Looking at their output, Oasis probably could have filled up four albums full of amazing songs before releasing their third album, Be Here Now. The sheer amount of amazing material they were tucking away as B-sides during the early ’90s was just astounding. Look at the material: “The Masterplan,” “Acquiesce,” “Round Are Way,” “Step Out,” to name a few.
The list could go on, but surely it must have been difficult for them to pick the track listings for Oasis’ two now-classic albums, Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, with such a wealth of options.
In the same way, it’s difficult to pin down the best Oasis songs across their entire discography. While the band itself may divide opinion (mostly due to the loudmouth antics of the Gallagher brothers), it’s hard to argue against such a strong collection of tracks. Missing the cut were all-time classics like “Live Forever” and “Some Might Say,” and while their later albums may not be as potent, you could always count on them delivering at least a couple of impressive songs.
Thirty years have passed since their debut, so here’s a look back — but not in anger, more in admiration.
