Why is Blogging Important?

Tell Your Story

Every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. This is true for writing and sharing stories with an online audience as well as creating presentations like TEDTalks. The great thing about stories is that they are different from each other depending on who is telling the story. Even in circumstances in which two story tellers are sharing the same story in different areas, both stories will be different as the delivery will have a different emphasis during the sharing of the tale.

Blogging is a great opportunity to share your story. Everyone, even if they do not like public speaking or writing in general, has a story to tell. It’s up to them to decide if they would like to share their story or not.

No one can tell your story like you can. Stories are original and can reveal positive attributes about the author and deliver messages to their audiences.

Blogging can be a fun outlet for discussing one’s personal experiences. It is also a great way to find others who are interested in the information that you like to share. One of the greatest aspects of blogging is that it is global, readers from all over the world can check out your blog post by discovering them through search engines and social media.

Share Insights with Others

The ups and downs present in the stories of your blog can educate, bring attention to social issues, and even serve as a means of entertainment. As a current Cybersecurity major, I’ve noticed that there are analytics companies that share information regarding common computer viruses in order to help other organizations from being cyber attacked, and if they are provide them with a mitigation strategy that will help them protect data and networks. The sharing of information can have an impact in all other disciplines as well.

Build a Portfolio

Freelance and contract writers should have a portfolio of their work on a trusted website or one of their own (or both, you can never have too many resources). Using popular blogging spaces like Medium and Tumblr are good places to start for someone who is brand new to blogging. However, the writer that has a moderate to a lot of writing samples may want to use the free version of WordPress to share their blogs. Google crawls WordPress websites very quickly since the writing platform is used by about 30% of internet bloggers and publishers.

Earn Revenue

There are blogging rock stars that generate a lot of income with their stories. It’s all about ideas. If you can create a blog that has a spin that no one has ever thought of before, you may become the next popular blogger and begin to see thousands and in some cases million of readers for your content. It’s about persistence and sharing high-quality original content that diligent bloggers can reach rock star status.
