What’s Next for CNN Newsroom’s Brooke Baldwin?

Brooke Baldwin

Brooke Baldwin is a dayside news presenter for the CNN Newsroom. She has been with the company since 2008. Most recently she has been the anchor for the 3-4 p.m. time slot. Baldwin recently announced that she will be leaving the company in March, which will cause CNN to make a big decision about finding her replacement, as Baldwin is one of the most popular news presenters to ever cover daytime news at CNN.

Baldwin made an announcement regarding her departure at the top of her show last Tuesday at 3 p.m., stating “there is more I need to do outside the walls of this place, this place I have been privileged to call home for the past 13 years.”

“I am so grateful for your loyalty and passion for the world we cover, and so grateful for my show team, to Jeff Zucker, to my very large CNN family, and to you,” Baldwin expressed. “The next chapter of my life will be focused on what I love the most about my work, amplifying the lives of extraordinary Americans, and putting my passion for storytelling to good use.”

Baldwin also announced that her new book, Huddle: How Women Unlock Their Collective Power, will make its debut in April.

Earlier in the year, Zucker announced his plans to leave the CNN Newsroom at the end of 2021.

Baldwin’s announcement has been made after CNN has adjusted its daytime lineup. One of the biggest changes is that Jake Tapper’s show “The Lead” will be extended to air until 6 p.m. Also, it is important to note that during the 2020 election, much of Baldwin’s airtime was put on hold in order to showcase more political content about the election, the absence of voter fraud, and information regarding President Biden and Vice President Harris. She returned back to the air shortly after the election buzz was over.

Even though Baldwin will be missed by her fans, since the timeslot is now open, it is a great opportunity for CNN to select a new candidate that will take the CNN newsroom in a new direction going forward; whomever they choose will express a lot about the company’s vision and priorities. They are going to need a candidate that is versatile like Baldwin, someone that can cover not only politics, but all other subjects as well.

Baldwin originally joined the company when the headquarters was in Atlanta and that was the location where she made her first broadcasts. Over the years, more CNN content had been developed in Washington, D.C., and New York. She had been broadcasting live from New York since 2014. While Baldwin has not disclosed her exact plans for what she is going to do with the next part of her career, she has made the following statement: “No, I don’t have a job I am jumping right into, and yes, yes I am feeling very vulnerable,” Baldwin said. “But what is it Brené Brown says? Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change, and I am so excited about what is to come.”
