Best movie on Paramount Plus in February: Hoop Dreams (February 1)
People’s love for documentaries has taken off with streaming services, as many of their incredible stories have become more easily accessible. But don’t just focus on the new documentaries that are being told, explore some great ones from the past, like Hoop Dreams, which is considered by some to be one of the greatest documentaries ever made.
Steve James’ epic documentary tracks the life of two teenagers from inner-city Chicago as they go through high school hoping to realize their dreams of playing professional basketball. Famed critic Roger Ebert called it the best movie of the 90s, which is pretty lofty but not an outlandish take to be honest.
If you’re looking for other stuff though, Harold and Maude, Hell or High Water, Magnolia, No Country for Old Men, Once Upon a Time in the West, Past Lives (making its streaming debut), Sunset Boulevard, Swingers and Zodiac are among the movies new to Paramount Plus worth checking out.
Best TV show on Paramount Plus in February: Halo season 2 (February 8)
Paramount Plus is getting back into the game (get it) with Halo season 2, their massive sci-fi series based on the popular video game series. Things are only supposed to get bigger with season 2, with the fall of Reach expected to be tackled and reports that one episode is going to be “wall-to-wall” action.
There some other Paramount Plus original series new this month, including an all new season of The Family Stallone, plus premieres of A Bloody Lucky Day and #Cybersleuths.
Best live sport on Paramount Plus in February: Super Bowl LVIII
I mean could it be anything else? One of the world’s biggest sporting events, Super Bowl LVIII, is going to be free to stream for any US-based Paramount Plus subscriber. As far as the game itself, it’ll see Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs attempt to win back-to-back Super Bowls, while the San Francisco 49ers look to win their first title since the 90s.
