Weekly Wrap-Up #191 – September 29th, 2024

I’m connecting up once again with Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer.

Sunday was another slightly rainy morning. It rained hard all Saturday night, which was so wonderful for sleeping. I got up and was going to make some scrambled eggs to take to school and split up for breakfast a few days, but realized I didn’t have any milk. So would have to do that later. I made scrambled eggs in the microwave with my Pampered Chef thing instead for the morning. Then I did my usual Sunday blogging. The wildlife was back in the yard this morning. The bunny in the backyard and the groundhog in the front yard. I went and met my dad, stepmom, and sister for our weekend coffee at noon. Then my mom had Sunday dinner at her house. The Chiefs played, and I turned off the game at 10 pm to go to bed. Then decided there was only a few minutes left in the game and I needed to watch to make sure they won, which they did.

Monday was mostly quiet at school. It was a cooler day, so I actually pulled out dress pants to wear instead of my capris I’ve been wearing all year. My first book order came in, so I spent the day getting everything labeled and set up in my system. Came home after a few errands on the way home, including a stop at Crumbl cookies because they had a peanut butter one and I love their peanut butter cookies. Then just put on the comfy clothes and blogged for a bit. Needed to finish a book to post a review tomorrow. I also got my cardiac CT scan scheduled that my doctor wanted for Tuesday. I also got my Banned Books Week display completed.

Tuesday was another cool temp day. Got some rain in the evening. It was a quiet/slow day at school. I got some little shelf talkers made for the cart to promote the new books. After work I came home, let the dogs out and fed them, then went to my appointment for the calcium CT scan. It was quick and easy. Then I stopped and had a quick dinner at Culver’s, I love their cheese curds. I ran by the Painted Tree mall to buy some of the dip mixes I like because we are having an office potluck at work tomorrow, and they are just mix with yogurt. I stopped by the pet store on the way home to get dog food, and the grocery store next to it for the yogurt and the vanilla wafer cookies to go with the dip tomorrow. My mom still had more issues with selling her house and it was supposed to close today. She’d driven to Branson in the morning, and had planned to stay the night and come back on Wednesday, but with the issues she signed her part of the closing papers and then drove home.

Wednesday I got the sub for my clerk that will be there for 4 days, and then hopefully by then we’ll have hired someone new. But if not, like I said, I’m just taking it as it is. It’s almost more of a pain to deal with training someone who isn’t going to be there permanently. I did also get the rest of the books I’d ordered to put out on the cart. We had the birthday potluck at work for lunch. Student Council had their meeting in the library in the afternoon while teachers were meeting. They’re always so loud. When I got home I paid bills, and I had planned to just relaxed at home for the evening as I had a book to get finished for a review to post on Thursday. And I’m backed up on review books again! However my mom found out that the sale on her Branson house fell through, and she was upset of course. So I went over for a bit to just spend some time and help her with some things around the house. I did get back home in time to watch Survivor and finish my book before bed.

Thursday I had the clerk sub again. It was a normal day at school for how things are lately. My AP asked me to make a Google Form for a survey she wanted to send to the teachers. With the sub there it was a little easier to take a lunch. She also helped by getting all the books shelved that I had stacking up as I didn’t have time to do that. My niece was cheering at a football game, but I decided I needed a night to just come home and be home and that’s what I did. I watched the first and about half of the second episodes of Grotesquerie. Didn’t see Travis Kelce yet.

Friday was senior cap & gown pictures in the library. As with last year, there were students who just came and sat in the library basically all day. Kids who lied to me about why they were there. Saying they were in the career programs and were waiting for someone to come give them a ride. But then they were still there after two hours, so I looked the one I knew her name up and she was being marked absent from all her classes. I had security come down and like me, he wasn’t in the mood to be cussed at, so he said he’d go get the interventionist. I have no idea if they came, because I went on lunch at that point. But when I came back from lunch, they were still there along with another girl that I’d already dealt with her cussing me out last year and this year she was telling me stories too. I reached out to admin, they came down, after a long time, and basically just told the girls to go to their last hour after the bell rang 10 minutes later. Ugh. So then I had dinner plans with a friend where we could both sit and gripe again.

Saturday morning I didn’t get up till after 9 am because I didn’t sleep well. The dogs kept waking me up every 2-3 hours, even after I put them in their cage for a while during the night. I got up and wrote a review to post. I went and let my mom’s dog out, because she was going to be at my aunt’s house for a garage sale all day. Then I went to have lunch with my dad, stepmom, and sister, before going to see a movie. Stopped at Bath & Body Works by the theater to pick up the lotion I use that goes with my perfume I buy there. Then drove home to relax with the dogs in the evening.

Yeah, I had to read a lot this week to meet my review schedule, mostly that I’d made for myself! The second one one was an audiobook I fit in between Gateway nominees since I’m going to be meeting the author next week and this is the book that is part of the ticket price.

ARCs:

None

Audiobooks:

Got this from the library app Libby to listen to once I finished Starter Villain.

Bookish Stuff:

none

E-galleys:

Got the first one for the author’s review team. Will be posting my review on October 14th I believe! The second and third are in the Coffee Loft series, I believe those reviews will be on October 8th and 10th.

Free e-books:

Freebies on Amazon.

Physical books:

The first two I ordered this summer from a B&N pre-order deal. However, the second one I also ordered last month when I heard a small bookstore was offering goodies with the pre-order. So I’ll have two copies, will probably give one away! The third book was a surprise from the author for being a part of the bookstagram promotion. I think I had the egalley, but then realized I will be reading it for a blog tour review on the 11th.

Because I keep talking about wanting to go back and do some rewriting to start the very first novel I ever began with NaNoWriMo completely differently, my author friend gave me this. It’s actually not what I need for the point I’m at, but I’ll keep it for other things.

Another week of Survivor, also Outlander rewatch. Sunday night was a Chiefs game. The new series Grotesquerie started this week too. Saturday I went and saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It was fun, seemed to have a lot more side plots than the first one did.

First is an e-galley I finished over the weekend and will post the review on Monday. Second is an ARC I hoped to get read by this point, but now hope to read and post the review on the 2nd. The last three are e-galleys I should read for reviews later this week. The only for sure date is Write or Wrong should be posted on the 3rd.

My End of the Month Wrap-Up post will be on Tuesday, and I’ve got a book blitz one day too.

Don’t forget I added in a monthly wrap-up giveaway again because my read ARC pile was getting big again! It just started this past week and it will end tomorrow.

I’m going to see John Scalzi and hopefully meet and get his autograph Wednesday night.

Can you believe October starts on Tuesday? I’m so ready! I think Argyle is ready for cooler weather as well, lol.
