I’m connecting up once again with Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer.
Sunday did NOT start out great. I mean, well, I did get to sleep late, till 9 am, which was nice. But then when I got up to get going, and I decided I was going to make pork loin in the crockpot with enchilada sauce and then shred it. Well, I’d first gotten a can of enchilada sauce that did have some soy in it, but when I found a jar without anything bad in it, I bought that. I had trouble getting the lid off the jar and when I used the little helper thing, I jerked too hard and dropped the jar and spilled the sauce all over my stove, kitchen counter and floor, as well as myself. I had to rush the dogs out of the kitchen, so they wouldn’t lick any of it up and get sick. But of course then I had to clean that mess up. Had to use the original can instead to get it started. I had been planning to mow, but mostly the yard didn’t need it other than in a few places in the back really, so since it was up in the 80s again on Sunday, I skipped it. Then I spent the day blogging until I went to the movie theater for a showing of Blazing Saddles with my mom and my friend who had never seen it! Which meant I was at the theater while the Chiefs game was on. Came home to watch the last 5 minutes of the Chiefs game, and see them win, barely.
Monday was kind of a slow day, although it was Homecoming spirit week and Monday was PJ day. I found out they didn’t get to the interview with my clerk on Friday, they did it Monday morning instead. The AP also gave me a 30 day review form for my clerk since she’d “been with me for that time”. Um, what? Pretty sure she was rarely with me during that time, but whatever. Came home after school, got a review posted for Tuesday, and just relaxed at home. Although I found out because of the deductible for my insurance, they’ll only pay like $31 of the $150 therapy visit, until I meet my deductible, so I can’t see paying that much as other than just talking, and one or two strategies to try, I can’t afford that. Especially when money issues are already one of the things stressing me out right now! I got a letter from the IRS that since I hadn’t paid all the $500 I owed yet, now there is a $499 penalty on it. I called and sat on the phone for almost an hour before I finally got to talk to someone, who said they could drop that penalty as long as I paid the rest of what I owed by October 14th. Which after the last $100 I sent on September 10th, should now be a little over $200.
Tuesday was another hot day. I’m so ready for this summer weather to go bye-bye! Today was college day, so I wore my t-shirt for University of Central Missouri. It was official today that my clerk is no longer my clerk. At one point, one of the new APs asked me to make copies. Um, I’m not a secretary. And my clerk, who could have maybe done that, is now the AP office secretary, so, ask her? So over this place. I did get my Hispanic Heritage Month display finished though.
Tuesday also would have been my stepdad’s 77th birthday. So we went and had dinner at one of his favorite restaurants later in life, where the waiter knew him and was sad when my mom went and told him about my stepdad passing.
Wednesday was another kind of slow day at school. My former clerk came down and got more stuff from her desk. A few people asked if I was going to have another clerk. It was the early release day where the students leave at 1 pm so we have meetings in the afternoon. Not that I have many meetings the way this district does it compared to the other districts I’ve been in. I also got some Hispanic Heritage Month stickers made for my students from some images I bought on Etsy.
My niece who is in 7th grade this year had her first game she was cheerleading at, a volleyball game, so we went to watch. They were actually playing a team from the middle school where I used to teach about 12 years ago. Here is my niece in her cheerleader uniform. I didn’t get any good pics at the game really.
Thursday work went by fast. I started working on decorations for my Banned Books Week Display for next week, and made some Hispanic Heritage Month bookmarks too. We had a staff meeting after school, which meant I was an hour later getting home. Then I had to mow. I’m hoping maybe it will be the last time I have to mow this year? Although it’s going to be hot again tomorrow, but hopefully we’ll get some rain this weekend. I was behind on the book I needed to have a review posted, so had to spend my evening finishing that up to get it up before bed. Here are the bookmarks I made.
Friday was assembly schedule. Found out I won’t have a new clerk until after they go through the whole interview process again. Ugh. So that’s a couple weeks. Also the district technology decided to start doing something about all the students that have more than one laptop checked out to them. And guess who gets to deal with calling all the students down to ask them, hopefully not parents, because I’m not doing that! Got home from work and just wanted a nap, but my mom called and wanted to go to dinner, so we went and had Mexican food. But I came back home after that and did some blogging, reading, and relaxing. Also watched the Uglies movie on Netflix. I just hope they do the other books in the series too!
Saturday was a beautiful rainy morning for sleeping in. It rained most of the day, we got a lot of rain, which we needed. I had originally used my AMC A-List to get a ticket to see a movie at 1:30, but changed my mind and just stayed home all day. I blogged – including finally getting time to comment on blogs, read, did laundry, set up a crockpot mix I had bought last week for dinner, and just spent some time with the dogs. The sun did come out about 2 pm for a bit, bringing the temps up a bit higher than I’d hoped. I don’t have a picture of the yummy food I made, because that kind of thing isn’t necessarily fancy looking, but I ate it over rice, and here is the package I bought. I just added chicken and cream cheese to cook in the crockpot.
Books Finished
All of these were e-galleys, the Coffee Loft books from the authors, the second one for a blog tour, all reviews posted this past week.

E-galleys:
The publisher emailed me and asked if I’d be interested in this one that comes out in February, and so I downloaded the e-galley.
Free e-books:
First was just some bonus stuff to go with one of the books I read and reviewed this past week. Second isn’t my normal type of book, but Emma Lee Jayne is a favorite author of mine, so I figured since it was free I’d get it.
Physical books:
The publisher sent me a finished copy, and I should be reading the ARC of this coming up this week. I’ll take this finished copy to put in my school library.
What I’m Watching
Sunday I went to the theater to see a showing of the classing Blazing Saddles.
This week a new season of Survivor started.
I also was excited to watch the movie based on one of my favorite book series, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.
What’s Coming Up Next Week
So yeah, a lot planned this week! Not sure I’ll get to all of them. The first one I’d hoped to get done and reviewed by Saturday, yesterday, but didn’t get it started till Friday. I also have a Blitz tour one day, and should be sharing my L-L-Little Reviews as well as my DNF post this week.
Final Thoughts
Don’t forget I added in a monthly wrap-up giveaway again because my read ARC pile was getting big again! It just started this past week and goes till the end of the month.
