Shang Chi is a new Marvel movie the company is excited to release. It shows the Marvel heroes at different stages throughout their lives. The company feels that the film will resonate with its audience, especially those with Disney+ subscriptions. However, Marvel is doing something unique with this film: they are allowing it to be streamed on the internet for free. This is a surprising yet thoughtful move, as this show gains in popularity in order to see new installments fans will have to subscribe to Disney+ in order to see the new content.

The film will release at different times across many territories. Here is a release list:

September 1: France, Indonesia, Italy, South Korea, Netherlands, Sweden, and Singapore

September 2: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Czechia, Germany, Denmark, Hong Kong, Hungary, Mexico, Cambodia, Portugal, Serbia, Russia, Slovakia, Taiwan, and Ukraine.

Some critics are suggesting that the film may not be exclusive to Disney+ yet. They are thinking that there is an opportunity for it to go to Netflix or another streaming service. This would be difficult to negotiate, however, because nearly all other Marvel properties are also on Disney+. Shang Chi is likely to be a Disney+ exclusive, but due to its popularity, other streaming services will certainly try to secure the rights to the film.  Marvel has diversified a little by showcasing some of its content on Netflix, so the idea could happen, it’s just with a project this highly anticipated it would seem that they would more likely show it on Disney+.

Shan-Chi is a Marvel Comics superheroes that made his first appearance on Marvel Edition #15. He was designed and developed by Steve Engelhart and Jim Starlin. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
