Hello everyone, Giovanna here! In this blog, I show you a fun way to use your gel printed fabric or even a mix of gel printed fabric and patterned ones. Collect your best and poor prints, a couple of stencils, and let’s make a snippet roll together!
You can use a wooden spool to wrap your roll around it or nothing at all. A ribbon stitched at one end will keep the roll wrapped around itself. In case you make a roll out of paper gel prints, you can just glue every piece of paper together. No need for stitching. To embellish your snippet roll, you can add some stamped details and quotes printed on paper or fabric.

Step by step process:
– Spread a nice layer of paint on the Gelli Arts® gel printing plate with a brayer
– Lay a stencil on the plate and press the fabric
– Pull a ghost print on another piece of fabric
– Add a contrasting color on the plate (purple-blue or black)
– Lay a punchinella or a dot stencil
– Press the fabric
– Keep up until you are happy with the result
– Make a template out of copy paper to use to cut the fabric the same height of the wooden spool
– Fold the fabric in half and cut to size for every piece of fabric
– Overlap sligthly two pieces of fabric and pin them together
– Add all fabric pieces
– Make a test wrapping the fabric around the wooden spool and when happy stitch all the pieces together (or glue them if you are using paper)
– Remember to stitch a ribbon at one end of the fabric strip
– To mount the strip of stitched fabric adhere a piece of double side tape to the wooden spool
– Decorate with sentiments and/or stamped details
