US Navy’s first Black female tactical jet pilot gets her ‘wings of gold’: History Made

While the African-American community and many politicians are mourning and celebrating the life of John Lewis, everyone now has a new reason to celebrate: Lt. Madeline Swegle became the first black woman to receive her “wings of gold” from the US Navy.

This is a significant milestone and she will serve as an inspiration to the younger women interested in military affairs going forward. It is certain to say that the older generations will find her achievements very inspirational as well. When asked about how this new milestone would change her current role in the military, she replied with excitement regarding the new technologies and innovations that are coming forth from the US Navy that she can apply.

Swegle will operate a variety of aircraft and implement other technologies at this new point in her career and going forward.
