His loved ones said they will be sharing “celebration of life details” soon as they thanked fans for their “kind words and support at this difficult time.”
The platinum-selling rapper — born on October 4, 1990 — died suddenly on September 5, The Post confirmed.
“On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar,” the coroner said in a statement.
His cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy was completed Friday.
The musician’s girlfriend discovered his lifeless body on the couch inside their Atlanta home and called 911.
The rapper’s significant other was frantic while telling the operator that he was “not breathing” and didn’t have a heartbeat in the recording obtained by TMZ.
According to the girlfriend, he never came to bed after falling asleep on the couch Wednesday evening. Before taking her son to school on Thursday morning, she placed a blanket over the artist after realizing he hadn’t moved.
“I don’t feel a heartbeat. I don’t see him breathing,” the girlfriend says. She then reveals that he “foamed at the mouth” when she turned him over.
Two days later, she took to her Instagram Story to describe the “unbearable” pain of losing her “other half.”
“Our house is no longer a home. I’m completely heartbroken,” she wrote, in part. “15 years gone. I’ll never be the same. This is a complete nightmare.”
He burst onto the mainstream hip-hop scene in 2013 with his hit track, “Type of Way.” The single landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, propelling him to stardom.
Other fan-favorite songs included his 2015 hits “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out.”
Rich Homie Quan frequently collaborated with Atlanta rappers 2 Chainz and Jacquees and joined Young Thug on the Cash Money Records project, “Rich Gang.”
He leaves behind five children: sons Devin, Royal, Khosen and Layor, as well as a daughter Alayna.
