Travis Scott has been released from jail in Paris.
The French international news agency Agence France-Presse reported Saturday that the “Sicko” rapper was released after 36 hours in police custody. The agency also noted that Scott was released without being charged. Scott had been arrested Friday morning in Paris following an alleged altercation with his bodyguard.
TMZ on Saturday also reported that prosecutors in Paris dismissed the case because the crime was insufficiently characterized.
ET had learned that Scott purportedly engaged in a fight with his own security detail amid rising tensions over an alleged lack of protection from the paparazzi. No injuries were reported.
“I confirm that on August 9, 2024 shortly after 5 a.m., the police were called to the Georges V hotel and arrested the nicknamed Travis Scott for violence against a security guard,” a spokesperson for the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office told ET in a statement.
“The latter had himself intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard,” the statement added.
The arrest came nearly two months after he was arrested in Miami for allegedly trespassing and alleged disorderly intoxication. He also made headlines in May when a fight broke out in Cannes between him and music executive and Cher’s boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards.
The 33-year-old rapper, born Jacques Bermon Webster II, has become a fixture at the 2024 Olympics. He was seen cheering for Team USA during the men’s basketball semifinals game against Team Serbia on Thursday at Bercy Arena. He was joined at the game by fellow musician, Quavo.
LeBron James and the rest of Team USA will play against France later Saturday in the gold medal game. No word if Scott plans to attend the game.
