Toby Keith Announces He’s Been Fighting Stomach Cancer

While country music superstar, Toby Keith, has been on a recent hiatus-he officially announced that his battle with stomach cancer has been the reason he’s taking time away from the stage.

Keith posted the following on Twitter and Instagram last Sunday: “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

Even though this is a very difficult time, Keith is scheduled to perform at Ribfest in Illinois on June 17.

During the pandemic, Keith released his latest album entitled Peso in my Pocket.

Last year, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts, a prestigious honor given to artists and arts patron by the U.S. government. Throughout his career, Keith has performed for U.S. service men and women throughout the country, Iraq and Afghanistan.

He has received support from fans on social media, and many are wishing him a speedy recovery.
