‘These Three Words’ Song Review

Stevie Wonder released ‘These Three Words’ in 1991 on the Motown label. The r&b song was successful on the charts and has become a fan favorite for many of his audience members.

Stevie’s lyrics are meant to bring people together, especially those loved ones that we have in our lives that we do not get to see and appreciate as often as we can.

Vocally he found a sweet spot between the high and lower notes that delivered a great sound that feels like he’s inviting audiences to sing along with him.

The focus on the piano in the beginning changes because Stevie adds another layer to it as the vocals are beginning; it sounds like a light organ or other electronic piano key(s) that changes the quality of the instrumentation. That change in direction causes listeners to hear the piano keys in a unique way.

Whenever he chooses to have a concert, ‘These Three Words’ usually finds its way on the track listing for the performance set.

Stevie wanted to create something that would inspire people to love each other and he was successful with this popular hit.

The song is still very popular among his fans and will continue to be considered one of the best r&b songs ever written.
