Incumbent VP Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris squared off in their first and what appears to be their only debate on Wednesday. The two candidates engaged in nothing but crosstalk, but unlike the out-of-line Trump-Biden debate where Trump emerged as the aggressor butting heads, this debate had a more civil tone. It was moderated by Susan Page, a female version of Chris Wallace who kept interrupting the VP Pence.

Pence, 61 a former Indiana governor; went on the record highlighting his and Trump’s so-called accomplishments and appeared to defend himself and Trump; while Senator Harris (D-CA) condemned Pence about his and the President’s failures to protect Americans from COVID-19; which has killed millions. The talk of the debate was the fly on Pence’s head. Some conspiracy theorists believe that might have been an omen.

They tackled the issues but avoided answering the key questions from the moderator.

The evening offered Harris, 55 an opportunity to dominate the debate stage and convince voters that she and Joe Biden are the best choice for President and Vice President. She’s the daughter of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother. She’s also a former prosecutor whose pointed questioning of Trump’s appointees and court nominees made her a rising star in the Democratic party.

Pence was craving his time in the spotlight when Harris was talking and even brought up President Lincoln for a “history lesson.”

Harris was a sharp cookie and won the debate hands down. Pence was boring and unconvincing.
