According to the National Endowment for the Arts, the latest economic data from the United States indicates that the arts and cultural sector increased by more than 4% over the last few years. .
This means that companies within the sector generated more than $800BM in economic activity in regards to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).
The data was based on examination of individuals and organizations in 35 different industry positions, both public companies and non-profits.
More than 5M people were employed in the sector and earned over $400BM in revenue.
The arts also increased the exportation of many products and services like smart TVs, streaming services and software.
The report also indicates an increase in the number of audience members attending events in the performing arts.
