The Pink Glasses Tour

Randy Rainbow, that internet sensation that made us laugh during the pandemic and through the Trump administration, has a new show, The Pink Glasses Tour. He has taken his show on the road and last night he performed at New York City’s Beacon Theater on Broadway.

For those of you who do not know him, he is the comic genius who has this tremendous ability to work into his schtick the current political issue and infuse it with a Broadway musical and throw in some satirical lyrics and he has made it a very humous medley. These videos have had millions of views over the last few years and especially doing the rounds during the pandemic.

Randy’s YouTube sensations have caught the eye of many celebrities who forwarded it on their social media platform. The likes of Debra Messing, Nancy Sinatra, Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters have all reposted or appeared in one of his videos. The parodies are a triumph as his videos alone helped many people survive lockdown.

His show, The Pink Glasses Tour, at the Beacon is Randy Rainbow on stage with a small backing band and a screen.

Randy has a strong musical theater history and it is obvious. His ability to hold a note and his musical timing is flawless, don’t be surprised to see him in the lead in a Broadway show in the future. As he has a presence on stage, an amusing persona and a captivating way of telling a story.

Randy Stewart Rainbow really gained notoriety when he started posting parodies of celebrity tantrums all the way back in 2010 on YouTube. Some of his videos gaining 16 million views, one is a tongue in cheek remix of the leaked audio of Mel Gibson and his aggressive phone message to girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. Another being Lindsay Lohan chatting to a friend about her release from prison and the pains she experiences from being famous, all remixes are very funny and you can understand why he quickly gained the public attention.

The Pink Glasses Tour, draws a lot on his early days and YouTube, as it is fascinating hearing the background story to a lot of these videos and how Randy had been hoping for years to gain a break in musical theater, even so far as working for a Broadway accounting firm.

A large portion of the show is a mashup of the videos that made Randy the national sensation. The Pink Glasses Tour is really enjoyable, watching Randy perform live with the parody videos, brings a lot of joy but it is a stark reminder of how dark the days were during the pandemic and with the daily national scandals with the Trump Administration.

If you want a laugh, a chuckle or simply relive a lot of the funny videos that have made Randy Rainbow so popular on social media, The Pink Glasses Tour, is something that will satisfy you on a number of levels.

If you were a fan of former President Trump, maybe sit this particular performance out.
