‘The Batman’ Soars at International Box Office

The Batman is now in theaters around the world and the projected international box office numbers are looking steady.  The new DC film also has some great reviews. The box office data is only a few days old. Outside of the United States, the first country to debut the film is South Korea. It appeared in many other territories over the last few days.

Director, Matt Reeves, has been getting great reviews for his take on what’s occurring in Gotham City. The movie follows Batman’s early days, his interaction with Catwoman and their quest to solve the Riddler. The Penguin (Colin Farrell) is also a part of the plot. Warner Bros. has confirmed they are going to make a spinoff based on Farrell’s character.

Over the last 72 hours or so, it has been reported that the film earned $5.3 million at the international box office. $1.7 million in South Korea. $2.1 million in France. $414 thousand in Sweden. $362 thousand in Indonesia. $193 thousand in Belgium.

Soon the film will appear in an additional 47 territories. The projected box office numbers are between $100 million and $125 million.

If The Batman achieves these numbers, it will be the second film during the pandemic to reach such a milestone, the first being Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
