Over the past several decades, the Star Wars franchise has been among the most popular brands in film and television. Even though the original film did not have high expectations after it was released in theaters, it immediately became a fan-favorite and a classic in the sci-fi genre.
After the original three films were released, fans were concerned that this trilogy would be the end of the franchise. However, Lucasfilm always had the intention of making prequels, sequels and side stories within the Star Wars universe. Showcasing Lucasfilm projects on Disney+ streaming service is one of the best moves The Walt Disney Company has ever made. They now have exclusive rights to stream anything related to Star Wars. Now they have a new project that is highly anticipated; as we grow closer to May 4th, 2021 fans are anticipating that the new TV show, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, will be available to stream on Disney+. A new trailer for the show has been released.
“Following their literally explosive introduction in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Clone Force 99, a.k.a. the Bad Batch, will soon step into the spotlight,” reads a company press release, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch arrives May the 4th with a special 70-minute premiere on Disney+, starring our new favorite squad of elite clones as they find their way in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.”
While there are Star Wars fans all over the world, it is going to be challenging for Disney+ to stream the new show as well as some of its existing content in certain countries and territories. The entire catalogue of Disney+ projects has been available in the U.S., UK and other similar markets; however, fans in less developed countries may not have a legal way to stream or download Disney+ content, including the new Star Wars.
Consumers are smart and they find ways to get around this obstacle by using file sharing programs that are not ethical, but maybe efficient in order for fans to connect with the Disney+ content. While using such services are risky, it is safe to assert that thousands of fans around the world use these types of programs because it is the only method possible to gain access to the content at this time. While fans expected Disney to make WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier more accessible, the company still only showed these two pieces of content in developed countries. Many fans are hoping this will change with the release of Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
The new trailer is action-packed and shows the direction the producers are going with the new show. It is now public information that Grand Moff Tarkin will be the main character in the show, who originally worked with the Bad Batch before they were declared enemies of the state. The Bad Batch includes Crosshair, Echo, Hunter, Tech and Wrecker. More character and plot information will be released in the coming weeks.
