Charles Dicken’s literary classic A Christmas Carol has been adapted hundreds of times for stage and screen. Spirited is the latest iteration of the story.
In the film, comedians Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds co-star in a musical entitled Spirited. Reynolds will be playing Clint Briggs, a comedic version of Ebenezer Scrooge. Ferrell will be playing the ghost of Christmas Present. The film is unique because the script and performance provide comedic storytelling from the ghosts’ perspective, a new innovative plot twist for A Christmas Story.
Spirited is produced by Maximum Effort and Gloria Sanchez Productions. It is an Apple TV+ original feature and was co-written by Sean Anders and John Morris.
Other cast members include Octavia Spencer, Patrick Page, Sunita Mani, Loren Woods, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley and Jen Tullock.
While all of the tracks for the film’s soundtrack have not yet been released, it has been confirmed that it will feature songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Spirited will make its debut in theaters on Nov. 11 and on Apple TV+ on Nov. 18.
