My Official Analysis of ‘Marriott’:Breaking it all Down
‘Marriott’ reminds me of a song about a woman who has an affair with a man in an undisclosed location and then afterward they have an altercation and drift apart in their relationship. She then leaves him and stays alone in a ‘Marriott’ hotel as the lyrics suggest (Could she even trash it due to her disgruntlement?) she slept with a man she barely knows and then she throws some negative ‘shade’ on him regretting her actions:
Marriott (Lyrics)
Ok, I get it…you need space now you need time now just to process…
Share my soul with you something like a fool how you soon forget—I fucked up with you barely know this dude was it all pretend?
Was it all pretend?
Did you love me like you said, or was it for the bedroom 8 a.m. break up text
Now you are on The Shade Room
I don’t got to sit and take it
When you come home you’re gonna see
It’s vacant like you did my patience
Blowin’ my phone where is your son
He’s straight, I’m straight, we straight…
(No, you can’t come over)
He good, I’m good we gon’ be good
All your talk is cheap (blah)
Imma stay here at the Marriott
Miss me with your shit (yah)
Imma be here at the Marriott
I don’t want you here (Nah)
You can’t come to the Marriott (ooh)
You made your bed, so sleep in it
The song is a woman’s melancholy lament anthem with a message. And that overall message is “Don’t sleep with men you barely know—think before you make rash decisions.”
Why does ‘Marriott’ still resonate in 2021? Because due to the pandemic women are still lonely and losing their minds! They can’t seem to keep a good man down!
I like the song because it has a Las Vegas vibe to it. It’s catchy and you can’t get it out of your head. It’s like staying at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas which is owned by Marriott. And when in Las Vegas; most people tend to act on impulse and fall on bad habits and have unprotected sex and get drunk.
I guess what happens in Vegas should definitely stay in Vegas!
