Social media effect? Forest loses against Wolves after posting against them before the match

Nottingham Forest

The match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest led to the defeat of the Reds, a 1-0 win in favor of the wolves.

This win allowed the Wolves to poke fun at Nottm Forest at Molineux as revenge against the Reds. Before the match, the Reds have begun a social media post against the wolves. Now it’s backfiring on them as they lost the game against their opponent.

What did Forest post on social media? They began a back-and-forth activity online by posting an infuriating pre-match graphic on social media – though it was later deleted – having forward Emmanuel Dennis as a feature, sitting on the Molineux pitch, playing with three wolf clubs. The Nottingham Forest even accompanied the post with a caption; “Playtime”. After scoring against Aston Villa on Monday night, Emmanuel Dennis couldn’t repeat the trick on Saturday afternoon and was reserved a quarter of an hour into the match before being substituted 20 minutes from time as the Forest pushed for an equalizer.

Wolves pounced on the opportunity to have their last laugh as Dennis was not on the pitch when Ryan Yates did win a penalty. The penalty was taken by Brennan Johnson but saved by their goalkeeper Jose Sa, entailing Ruben Neves’ converted spot-kick to remain the winner. After the match, Wolverhampton Wanderers made a follow-up social media post with the caption, “Playtime’s over”. It showed a tree stump with an axe sporting its badge clung into it fixed on the Molineux pitch. It also featured the 1-0 scoreline with a message on the advertising boards, indicating ‘SAFE TRIP BACK NOTTS FOREST’.

Below is how some of Nottingham Forest’s players are being rated:

  1. Ryan Yates: Place his body on the line and go where it hurt a few times. He can’t bring an accusation against him for not giving his all. He gained the penalty score in the second half. Rating: 6/10
  1. Emmanuel Dennis: Assemble a shooting opportunity for Williams in the first half leading to a penalty claim. The first touch let him down more than once, but he got to do more to hold the ball up. Rating: 5/10
  1. Morgan Gibbs-White: He looked desperate to do well against his former club, possibly trying too hard occasionally. He was involved in most of Red’s more joyful moments, anyway. Rating: 6/10
  1. Remo Freuler: Demonstrated some nice touches when he’s with the ball; only the Forest didn’t see enough of a few glimpses of what he can do. Rating: 6/10
  1. Brennan Johnson: Little is seemed to come off for the youngster. He will need to brace himself up after that penalty save. Rating: 5.5/10
