Slack is Slacking Off

The popular social media network platform kicks off 2021 with a global outage

Slack, the popular social media network platform used mostly by freelancers and businesses; suffered a widespread global outage on Monday morning January 4 at 10 a.m.

According to the source News12.com, the collaborative tool started 2021 on a sour note when users tried to log on to their accounts and were stunned by the news that it wasn’t available. It’s the latest technical glitch to surface in a pandemic when millions of people rely on it. The company stopped releasing its daily user count when it toppled to 12 million last year. Slack is currently being acquired by Salesforce for $27.7 billion.

The Slack team is currently overseeing the issue. They issued this prepared statement:

“Our team is currently investigating and we’re sorry for any troubles this may be causing.”

Besides the US, the glitch was also prevalent in India, Germany, the U.K. Japan and elsewhere.

Here’s the video on YouTube:

I have used it personally and was never happy with the platform. Cut me some slack, will you? (kidding).

An article on Mashable said people were taking to Twitter rejoicing that Slack was down on the first Monday of the year back to work.

We will keep you posted with further developments as they become available.
