Six things I Learn about New England – Snapdragon Alcove

[ad_1]

I took a long break from blogging to travel up to the New England area. Compare to down south (that being Virginia) it was different. Was bit the culture shack. As an undercover southerner, here are six things I learn about New England.

1, Ice cream is call a creamy – Taste different too. I got a blackberry raspberry milkshake. While It did not taste like any barriers. It did have a buttery almost cream cheese flavor.

2. The weather is nice and cool. Unlike Virginia where it hot and humid. – Some people complain about the humidity. Personally I did not feel any of it. If we were in Va, everyone will feel like a melting snowman.

3. Vermont is beautiful place and it make me want to buy summer home up there. – Look at that. Bernie made at least one good point.

4. New York maple syrup will always taste better then Vermont maple syrup. – My family from NY taps their own trees and the syrup is so good. Vermont can not compete with that.

5. Bears bears everywhere. You can hear them but, can not see them (knock on wood). – I went for a walk one day and as I was coming back, heard something large move in the woods near the path. Only because I didn’t see, it could of been anything. Even bigfoot but, most likely a bear.😁

6. New Englanders love southern accents – While working on the AT/Long Trail people from all over came hiking through. One man came wearing nothing but a hat and boxers. In a loud obnoxious Tennessee accent said, “What Y’all doing.” Everyone drop their tools and perk up. Their like, “southern accent. I loved southern accents.” Being the only one from down south I should of said a few Y’all just to have everyone quicken in their boots.

After three weeks in Vermont I stay a week with one of my great aunts in up states New York.

These two horse belong to one of my relatives. Their names are Dolly (right) and Daisy (left).

I help out on the farm, getting ready for opening weekend. Pick tons of pumpkins and there still tons more to be pick.

The farm sells bake goods and craft that are made mostly by my relatives. I help contribute by making bees wax food wraps to sell.

Visit a historical house called Hyde Hall. Learn a lot about the history of the town. As my great aunt was driving me around town, she pointing out location that are mention in The Last of the Mohicans by James Cooper. There a cave mention in the book. My grandpa (from a family of twelve kids) they would hike up to that cave and camp the night there. Now I really need to read the book.

I was planning to go back up to the farm on Labor day or the weekend after but, I will be moving to Texas near the end of the month. That is 100% curtain. Posting and visiting other blogs will not be as often as it is now.

Last Saturday 8/24 I went to the Natural Book Festival in DC. I got a few books sign, including one by Christopher Paolini. Was hoping to get one of my Amulet graphic novels sign by Kazu Kibuishi but, it was late in the day and there were so many people.

The author for Fourth Wing was there and omg the line. I was in the line next to it waiting to get my book signed by Christopher Paolini.

books I got sign:

Mailbox Monday no longer has a host. Please help keep the meme going by posting and sharing what books you got in the mail.
