For fans of gymnastics it is the most wonderful time of the year. It just doesn’t get any better than seeing your favorite athletes compete in the Olympic games. For the Tokyo games, that means that the world gets another shot at seeing one of the best gymnast of all time, Simone Biles. Unfortunately, she will not be able to compete in the finals.

Olympic champion, Simone Biles, has withdrawn from the finals due to an injury she sustained during the vault. It was unfortunate that she needed some assistance to walk away from the floor as she could not do so under her own volition.

Biles made a stunning return a while later, not to compete, but to cheer and support her fellow American athletes. The young women train so hard for this opportunity to compete at the highest stages and it would have been easy to just simply give up and stay in the back with medical staff. Biles rejected that notion, and even though she was injured she was able to provide support to others that she trained with along the way.

With Bile’s perfect execution, the American team was slated to win a third Gold meal in a row. The Americans ended up winning the silver medal.

Simone was supposed to be the team’s anchor, delivering a roundoff back handspring onto the table followed by two and a half twists.

She continues to be monitored by healthcare professionals including team doctor Marcia Faustin.

Biles is considered the GOAT. She won five medals in Rio five years ago. Without the injury, she would have had the opportunity to make more history. The all-around final is on Thursday, which there is still a slim possibility that she may make an appearance. However, evening news broadcasts have indicated that Biles may be taking a much-needed mental break from the games in addition to her physical injury.
