Sabrina Carpenter wrapped up her “Emails I Can’t Send” era by taking the stage with Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour for the final time in March, but she’s far from hitting pause.
Carpenter dove headfirst into her “Short n’ Sweet” era, kicking it off with the 2024 summer smash “Espresso,” which went viral almost immediately. Just two months later, her track “Please Please Please” climbed to the top, marking her first U.S. No. 1 hit.
On Friday, she released the rest of the album, “Short n’ Sweet,” and it’s safe to say that the world is already in love.

‘Taste’ Music Video Goes Viral
There is a “graphic violence” warning at the start of Carpenter’s new music video for “Taste”—from her freshly dropped sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet”—which might make it seem like the Tarantino-inspired video is made for mature audiences, but don’t let it fool you.
The over-the-top violence is more absurd than unsettling.
In the music video, the 25-year-old is on a revenge spree against her ex, played by “Halloween” star Rohan Campbell, who’s now with a new girl, 21-year-old Jenna Ortega. Carpenter’s character doesn’t hold back, stalking Ortega, breaking into her home, and attempting to kill her, all while the lyrics tease, “You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissing you.”

But Ortega isn’t about to play it safe. She matches Carpenter’s intensity, leading to a series of heated showdowns and a series of wild scenes, including Ortega setting Carpenter on fire, chopping off her arm, tossing her out a window, and impaling her on a picket fence.

Check Out The BTS Video Shared By Sabrina Carpenter
In the clip, Carpenter sports a blue and white plaid corset splattered with fake blood, paired with matching capris and white platform heels. Ortega, on the other hand, rocks a black dress from the shoot while holding a chainsaw that’s nearly as big as she is.
The behind-the-scenes footage captures the duo laughing and enjoying themselves between takes on their horror-themed shoot.
“the best duo for this video for real,” one user wrote after watching the adorable BTS video.
“Jenna Ortega and Sabrina Carpenter fighting over a man then killing him in the end then kissing each other then going to the funeral and laughing away with smoothies was not on my bingo card for 2024,” another expressed.

‘Short n’ Sweet’ Is Already A Massive Hit
Carpenter’s latest album dropped at midnight on Friday and it has already taken over the internet. The album was named “not because [Carpenter is] vertically challenged” but because of “some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest [she has] ever had and they affected [her] the most.”
After hearing the entire album, many think some songs are about her rumored relationship with Shawn Mendes. For example, in “Taste,” the singer appears to take a jab at Mendes and his shirtless snaps when she sings, “You’re wonderin’ why half his clothes went missin’ / My body’s where they at.”
The track “Sharpest Tool” also appears to take aim at an ex for reigniting a past relationship, which might be a swipe at Mendes. He was spotted sharing a kiss with Cabello in April 2023, only two months after Carpenter was rumored to be spending time with him.

Sabrina Carpenter Talks About Her New Album
Before her album dropped, Carpenter chatted with Zane Lowe in a recent “Apple Music 1” interview, per Just Jared, revealing that “Short n’ Sweet” is “very different from [her] last album.” She admitted, “I questioned it until the day before it came out, like, ‘Is it done?’ and, ‘Could I have changed it?’ and ‘Could I have written another song?’”
“And to be fair, I do have a hard time with the fact that I do feel like life doesn’t stop,” she added. “So it’s really hard to tell when a chapter of your life should be book-ended.”
“Short n’ Sweet” is out now.
