Playland Park, Westchester County’s art-deco landmark amusement park; is currently undergoing massive renovations and is getting a total long-awaited makeover to the tune of $135 million dollars. And it’s about time to bring it all back and update the park.
The park also suffered a significant amount of damage caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The time has finally come for the park to get its long-overdue facelift!
It’s unbelievable the way it looks now compared to the way it looked so picturesque on a postcard and the way the famous landmark looked and was used as a filming location in the Tom Hanks film, Big.
The iconic amusement park that was a masterpiece with rides, games, and amusements; is currently empty with tractors, unfinished buildings waiting to be reconstructed, and tons of dirt! Check out what it looks like now!
The historic park opened in 1928 and is located on the Long Island Sound in Rye, New York. During the pandemic in 2020 attendance was low and the park was in desperate need of repairs. Fast forward to 2022, the park is finally getting a much-needed top-to-bottom refresh. And once the renovations are completed; visitors of the park will be welcomed back with open arms by an all-new state-of-the-art renovated park. The original landmarks will be restored to their original glory and the park will still maintain its adoring charm.
The memories of being a kid again and the pastimes of summer will magically return when the park reopens once again with a whole new look and feel to its atmosphere!
