RRHOF Announces Their 2021 Inductees

This year's inductees includes Tina Turner, The Go-Gos, Todd Rundgren, Foo Fighters, and more

The powers-that-be have spoken. And this year’s 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees include a mixed bag of rock, pop, and rap/R&B legends. Some are deserving, some are not, like JAY-Z since when is Jay-Z rock and roll he’s rap music or LL Cool J isn’t LL more R&B/Rap? Some have been snubbed again like British hard rockers Iron Maiden. Well, this year’s list has fans literally ‘running for the hills’  just like it suggests in the Iron Maiden song, “Run to the Hills.” Fans have complained about the way the RRHOF chooses their inductees and are very disappointed with 2021’s picks. Whatever happened to the fan vote? Do you agree or disagree with this year’s inductees? Here’s the list:

List of 2021 RRHOF Inductees

1.) Tina Turner

2.) Carole King

3.) The Go-Gos

4.) Jay-Z

5.) Todd Rundgren

6.) Kraftwerk

7.) Charley Patton

8.) Billy Preston

9.) Gil Scott-Heron

10.) LL Cool J

11.) Clarence Avant

12.) Randy Rhoads

13.) Foo Fighters

Some of these artists are not what I call, “Rock Legends” they’re considered closer to ‘pop’ or R&B music. I do agree with Todd Rundgren he’s very deserving and is a famous local in the Hudson Valley New York region. I interviewed him a few times and my sister Patti Rothberg played at his Bearsville Theater which Rundgren owns a few times also. Carole King, her classic album ‘Tapestry’ and definitely her famous song, “Beautiful” that my sister Patti Rothberg covered in a video was featured in a Bardavon Theater in Poughkeepsie, New York segment for King’s ‘Tapestry’ album anniversary on YouTube a few months ago. This video was produced and edited by her manager/husband Micah Carey. I hope one day my sister Patti makes the cut someday in RRHOF!

Tina Turner definitely should be inducted and is well-deserved of the accolade. She’s a survivor and had a string of hits like “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” The Go-Gos, while I appreciate their first album, ‘Beauty and the Beat’ with their hit, “We Got The Beat” they’re more categorized as 80s pop icons than rock and roll legends. The rest of them like Billy Preston, Clarence Avant, Gil Scott-Heron, Kraftwerk Foo Fighters, Randy Rhoads,  LL Cool J, Jay-Z no, I don’t think they earned their keep in this rock hall.
