Roblox is one of the most popular games in the world. Hundreds of millions of people play Roblox every single month. Suffice to say, Roblox must have astonishingly strong server infrastructure in order to support that many players. Yet even Roblox‘s servers appear to have their breaking point. The hugely popular online game has been taken offline for unplanned maintenance most of Friday. What makes the situation all the more absurd is that some Roblox players are blaming fast-food chain Chipotle for the issues.
The reason why some frustrated Roblox players are blaming Chipotle for today’s server outage is quite funny. This past week, Chipotle announced that it had partnered with Roblox to give away $1 million in free burritos through the game. A special Chipotle Halloween “Boorito” stage could be visited in-game, allowing 30,000 costumed guests to earn a free burrito. The Boorito event was scheduled to last through October 31, but it was expected that the 30,000 free burritos would go quickly.
With the Boorito event in mind, once Roblox‘s servers went down some players were quick to blame the Chipotle event for the server outage. In their minds, it must have been the surge of hungry Chipotle fans rushing to get their free burrito that crashed the servers. Roblox fans have blamed these players rushing online and their insatiable appetite for Chipotle burritos for the current issues, as ridiculous as that may be.
