Requiem for Vengeance in New Trailer for the First TV Series Made Entirely in Unreal Engine

Netflix dropped a new trailer for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, previewing the first four minutes of the series. While CGI has been used in multiple Gundam productions over the years, Requiem for Vengeance is only the second series (MS IGLOO being the first) to be entirely computer-generated. As such, fans have been apprehensive about how it’ll turn out. Fortunately, the trailer shows those worries might have been unfounded.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance trailer shows us the initial minutes of the first episode

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance takes us back to the One Year War in Universal Century 0079. The six-episode series follows the Principality of Zeon’s Red Wolves division in the European theater. Set in the late stages of the conflict, it focuses on the unit’s attempt to repel the Earth Federation Forces’ push to reclaim its former territory.

Notably, Requiem for Vengeance is the first TV series to be produced entirely in Unreal Engine 5. We’ve seen some productions like The Mandalorean use the game engine in conjunction with traditional CGI and camera footage. However, this is the first time an entire work will be animated in-engine.

You can catch Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance exclusively on Netflix starting on October 17, 2024.
