An independent art scene in Ljubljana, Slovenia is a field of intellectual and artistic resistance from the dominant cultural, political and ideological mindset in theatre and on the stage. This organization is looking for a different creative practices of performance artists in presenting a creative art progress at the Mladi Levi Festival 2023. As a performance art maker, an artist need space and time to research, there including environment for developing an art piece as the opportunity to present work on collaborative network research.
Slovenia PARL performance art makers and independent art groups are welcome to join 10 days for research and development program in Ljubljana from August 17th – 26th 2023. PARL and Mladi Levi is looking for performance art, contemporary theater, dance, intermedia projects or any other performance hybrid forms that construct performances in relation to found material from real life, television, film, theatre, popular culture, also visual art. It includes extended art work across a variety of means, including installation and site-specific performance. The discussions not only engage principal contexts as ‘non-theatrical’ practices derived from let say sculpture or site-specific art to up(rise) to radically new challenging entries into performance via explorations process in contemporary performance operating from art and into the theatre. If we are talking about the hybridity of theatre that we can find in postmodern forms that it is still unknown territory, which basically develops functional associative matrices. Even if it operates at formal level, or has an essential elements of theatre, or takes on ideological forms, hybridity is the most valuable mark of inter discipline activity in theatre. The performance arts, discontinuous and changeable as it is, it eliminates theatricality. An innovative performance aesthetics in modern theatre today enables the exploration of stabilization and destabilization of cultural identity, it merging aesthetics with politics of “modern” by interweaving cultures in performance.
This Slovenian organization at the end offers to every participant a studio space and presentation venue. All art work is focused on development of creative processes and performative strategies research, there including daily feedback along with classes. At the end of workshop participants present their work in progress at the International Mladi Levi Festival 2023. Every day artists will get to present studio work with creative feedback on each and current development of the art project and focus on all the aspects of the art work that covers conceptual or a contemporary theatre esthetic issues. Every morning class will be led by experienced artists, where every participant gets a studio space at Ljubljana’s performance venues.
The PARL and Mladi Levi are focused on development of creative processes, performative strategies of contemporary theatre presentation formats. This organization has an ambition to expand the field of contemporary performance practice and end production models.
