Peljesac Artist Residency

Pelješac Peninsula, in Dalmatia, Croatia is a dreamy place, and it was a place of a wonderful summer holidays of my childhood. If you are inspired by the wind, the sea, and the smells of organic herbs in the surrounding natural habitat. If you would like to check out the experience, the breathtaking beauty on the island of Korčula from Villa Leila house, located amidst of majestic grandeur of the Dalmatian Islands, Peljesac Artist Residency Program offers local and international artists the opportunity to live in an old house by the sea, a residency space  open between mid-November – the beginning of April 2022. The beauty and serenity of Pelješac Peninsula will support artists in imagining, and developing art and the inspiration, taken from the natural surroundings, and local community. Their motto is if nothing, do nothing, because nothing is the beginning of everything. If the art is wonderfully beneficial for the advancement of healing, authentic experiences is committed to nature and to the healing potentials of art, and the benefits of nature & healing arts consciousness around the world.

The program welcomes artists with a particular interest in nature, mythology, culture, and fantasy. Artists can work in drawing, painting, sculpture, writing, dance, performance, land art, photography, or any other art forms. Selected artists will have 24-hour access to working studios on 2 outside open terraces and one with a roof, plus a garage and a garden. The terraces have a spectacular view at the neighboring island of Korčula. The house is located 50 meters away from the public beach and has three double bedrooms upstairs. Artists share 2 bathrooms, kitchen and living room. The house also has 3 big outside open terraces that can be used as a working studio, garage, and garden. The residency expects the participation fee of 900 euros/ month, which can be divided  fee among other fellow artists participants. The more of you there are, the lower is participation fee, plus monthly fee 350 euro/ month. 

There is a place for dancers, to recharge body, mind and spirit and perhaps to explore site specifics. For painters and sculptors inspired by the place. The house is a living entity with all its invisible spirits, guardian angels, historic stories, ancestral lineage, or anything imaginative. For photographs of the house, nature around, surroundings, people, portraits of villagers, etc… whatever fascinates you in local area as artist. For mythology, or if you are interested to research Slavic mythology of the region and create cards, paintings, sculptures on this topic etc.
