Two-time Grammy winner bassist Oteil Burbridge, will perform for one night only as part of the Oteil & Friends tour on July 27, 2023, at The Clubhouse in East Hampton.
The event will be produced by New York-based producers Murmrr, MRR Productions, and The Clubhouse. Oteil & Friends features a rotating cast of all-star musicians such as Melvin Seals, Eric Krasno, John Kadlecik, Tom Guarana, Jay Lane, Jeff Chimenti, John Morgan Kimock, Jennifer Hartswick, Jason Crosby, Natalie Cressman, Lamar Williams Jr., Weedie Braimah and Alfreda Gerald.
A career spanning three decades, Oteil stepped into the spotlight when he became a founding member of the Aquarium Rescue Unit featuring Col. Bruce Hampton, which led to his membership in the renowned classic rock group The Allman Brothers Band. During his time with the band he received two Grammy nominations for best rock instrumental and the Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award for his 15 year contribution, noted as the longest running bassist in the band’s history. While touring, Oteil still found time to collaborate forming his solo group, Oteil and the Peacemakers, joining Phish’s keyboardist Page McConnell and The Funky Meters’ drummer Russell Batiste to form Vida Blue, and founding an improv based trio with Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and Max Creek guitarist Scott Murawski.
His celebrated musical career has included two Grammy wins including one with Tedeschi Trucks Band, an 11-piece super group which featured Oteil and his brother Kofi in the rhythm section, for their first record Revelator. In 2015, Burbridge joined forces with Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart as well as John Mayer to form “Dead & Company”. The band completed six tours, headlining iconic stadiums across the country including Folsom Field, Autzen Stadium, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. They even broke Wrigley Field’s all-time concert attendance record.
Oteil’s fourth solo record, “Water In The Desert” was released in October 2017. For the record he assembled an all-star group of musicians including late brother Kofi on keyboards and flute, Little John Roberts and Sean O’Rourke on drums, vocalists Alfreda Gerald and Mark Rivers, Dave Yoke on guitar, Miguel Atwood Ferguson on strings and producer David Ryan Harris.
