NY East Village Unconventional Metamorphosis

The NY EVAC is now accepting submissions for upcoming shows, January 13th-16th “Metamorphosis” and January 27th-30th, “Exploring the Unconventional”. What does it mean to capture change in art, to freeze-frame the flow, to isolate the time, the fleeting moment of transformation? Metamorphosis is an event that is characterized by a complex temporality, within the narratives of metamorphosis is usually described as an event that happens instantaneously. Capturing metamorphosis in art takes a double perspective: not only metamorphosis as an event, but also as an aspect of images. But what about the visual representations of metamorphosis? The moving image, image-making as a transformative practice, almost impossible juxtaposition between contemporary art and media.  Therefore, lets take seriously the concept of metamorphosis.

The EVAC invites artists to explore the expansive art of paintings, sculpture, digital art, photography and holograms. All those mediums are accepted. The exhibition is organized in The East Village Art Collection, which is the gallery unlike any gallery in the world, famous mainly by its exhibitions of Andy Warhol. The Evac focus’ on quality, cutting-edge art experiences, while it is useful to mention that The East Village Art Collection artists retain 100% of all sales that are made during the show, and 0% gallery commision.

The New York City, East Village Gallery has always been very active. In the 1960s and 1970s, the area was home to several important art movements, including Pop Art and Neo-Expressionism. There is a famous Andy Warhol photograph in front of the gallery that I have seen and really liked. Even for today, when it comes to arts, it remains one of the most vibrant and diverse New York City neighborhoods. When you mention NY art scene, Andy Warhol first comes to our mind. In the late 70s, Warhol opened his studio in Union Square, which quickly became a gathering place for young artists, musicians, and actors. More about fantastic and truly unique Warhol’s influence, the East Village became known as a place where artists could experiment with new ideas. This is the place where artists use to push the boundaries of what was or is at the moment, considered “a true art.” Since then, countless other artists have followed the way into the art NY neighborhood. A mysterious pop art influx created the East Village as one of the most important cultural centers in New York City.

The EVAC organization believes that art education should be accessible to everyone regardless of financial status, something that sounds really fantastic! This NY organization offers tips, tricks and advice on how you can thrive and be successful in the art world regardless of the money. And the fact is that the right resources will help artist to take art to the next level, I am talking about the resources that are actually useful and helpful!
