The film will be available on VOD, streaming, and in theaters on September 17. Cage calls it his ‘wildest film he’s ever made!’ Do you know what really drives me wild? When he’s ‘sexy and shirtless’ in the film! Prisoners of the Ghostland first premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. It was acquired by RLJE Films the team that also released Cage’s Color Out of Space and Mandy. The film co-stars Sofia Boutella as Bernice the captured granddaughter who is kidnapped and must be returned by the bank robber and Bill Moseley as the evil governor of the insane treacherous Samurai Western town known as Ghostland. The entire film was produced on location in Japan. It was directed by Sion Sono of the film ‘Suicide Club’ fame. This is the first English-language feature film by the Japanese director. He survived a heart attack when making the film. Cage is known as the bank robber whose task is to rescue a wealthy adopted warlord’s missing granddaughter but to make sure he doesn’t run off and not finish the job, he has a time bomb strapped to his genitals on his trousers that will self-destruct within five days including glowing bombs strapped around his neck and his crotch. The premise is downright insane as Cage blurts out, “I am radioactive!” Here’s the ‘Prisoners of the Ghostland’ trailer on YouTube. See for yourself.
