Nicki Minaj‘s husband, Kenneth Petty, was caught using a slur on a livestream, which left plenty of Barbz very upset.

During a livestream from Friday (August 30), Nicki and her hubby were talking about haters, and the “Super Bass” rapper began by imploring fans to celebrate their happiness.

She said: “Don’t you let anybody or anything steal your muthafucking joy.”

The problem came when Petty added: “That’s right, especially little faggots or fuck boys.”

The video circulated online, and plenty of fans took serious issue with his use of the word.

One user wrote beneath the clip posted to X (formerly Twitter): “it’s giving the popular girl who says she’s for the gays but let her boyfriend say slurs while she laughs.”

Another added: “They still ain’t learn that she don’t care about the gays but their money. When’s the last time you heard of her doing a gay pride or gay club pop up etc. She did Ru Paul and they swear she for the gays [crying laughing emoji].”

A third concluded: “When her fans are part of the community and she ok with this.”

This isn’t the first time that Nicki, who is widely considered to be an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community, has gotten into hot water for controversial positions.

Back in 2022, she faced backlash from her loyal Barbz fanbase for her upcoming appearance on the 2022 World Cup theme song “Tukoh Taka” alongside Maluma and Lebanese singer Myriam Fares due to host country Qatar’s anti-LGBTQ+ stance.

The Young Money queen brushed off the criticism and appeared on the global record, which came before the World Cup’s launch. She became the first female rapper to appear on a World Cup anthem.

The backlash from fans came as some tried to explain Qatar’s anti-LGBTQ+ policies to Nicki Minaj on X.

“Hi @nickiminaj not sure if you’re aware but your LGBTQ+ supporters from qatar are in danger and you’re funding and standing by their disgusting views,” one person wrote. “Qatar was voted as the one of the worst places in the world to be gay. homosexuality is illegal and punishable by imprisonment.”

Another added: “For somebody with a very large LGBTQ fan base and with the threat by Qatar to effectively snuff out any presence of LGBTQ support, it’s very disturbing to see Nicki Minaj sign on to do this. Not all money is good money; especially when gay men are persecuted there!”
