NATURE OF WIRES Dark Waters is available on Digital Silence

“Traffickers with cold eyes/ Promises built on lies/ Dreams shattered, waves crash loud/ Lost souls wrapped in a shroud…”, an ominous AI Lukacs Asoniu laments. Heady and stark, these lines are from the return to the post-punk industrial era “Dark Waters” from Nature of Wires’ new AI-enhanced LP ‘Digital Silence‘.
NoW’s Gary Watts has shared about the album: “In a recent post I said that I was taking a different approach to the next NoW release. In this regard, I’ve used AI to give me starting points for songs and to assist with lyrics (I’ve never been a good songwriter). Although the approach to gathering ideas was different to what I’ve done in the past, the actual process of rearranging and recreating the instrumentation of the initial ideas, adjusting vocals, etc, etc, was pretty much the same as remixing and on average took a bit longer.”
I’m one of those folks who are wary of AI but in this case, NoW has tilted my opinions towards the possibilities. Making music is often about pushing or redefining boundaries and this album, and this track in particular, are benchmarks for what’s to come.
