Nothing sucks more than fake dating a vampire in this paranormal romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire.

Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she’s tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone–anyone–to pose as her date.

After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he’s perfect for her purposes. He’s a bit strange, but that’s fine; it’ll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn’t hurt that he’s very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.

As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia’s first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic.

“My standards aren’t high. I’m just asking for a few hours of your time, not for your hand in marriage. After the wedding, you’ll never see me again. As for why I’m asking you specifically—” “You’re asking me because you find me devastatingly handsome and irresistibly charming,” he deadpanned. “Right?”

Jenna Levine second standlone novel, My Vampire Plus-One, featuring a vampire hero is equally hilarious, fun, and absolutely swoony as her first in the My Vampires series, My Roommate Is a Vampire. If you’ve read My Roommate Is a Vampire then you’re already familiar with Reggie, Frederick’s best friend and general pain in his butt. Reggie’s love interest is Amelia, an accountant (the actual kind not the social media kind) whose no-nonsense kind of life doesn’t lend itself well to dating.

Reggie and Amelia’s meet cute is the kind of scene in romance that make me want to kick my legs in the air and squeal as I clutch the book to my bosom. I adore the charm and awkwardness that Reggie brings as a character and what makes it even better is how Amelia cannot figure out how a hottie like Reggie is so dang strange. When Amelia’s family relentlessly nags her about dating, she puts herself in a bind when she mentions a boyfriend and a plus-one to an upcoming family wedding.

Normally, I was physiologically incapable of finding anyone wearing a suit in my building attractive, ever. But seeing Reggie in a suit…It was a crime, honestly, that he ever wore anything else.

You know exactly where this is going. Amelia asks Reggie to be her fake date which then leads to multiple appearances. Nothing like an engagement dinner, or dinner with the family to really make this fake dating seem real! The only issue is that Reggie is also attempting to hide in plain site from a league of vampires who would rather see Reggie dead and gone than undead and in a happily ever kind of relationship.

Hijinks reach an all-time high when both Reggie and Amelia begin to catch real feelings in their fake relationship. With appearances from both Frederick and Cassie, along with a getaway to a cabin in the woods during a snowstorm, plus a confrontation that made me in awe of Amelia’s strength and ingenuity, My Vampire Plus-One is equally as unputdownable and enjoyable as it’s predecessor.

“But for you, I would brave a blizzard just to see you smile.”

I adore this premise, the lore, and the setting in urban Chicago. I cannot get enough of these characters and the hilarity that ensues with each new set of characters. I hope there is more to come. I eagerly await more. Do yourselves all a favor and make sure My Vampire Plus-One is on the tippy top of your reading list for Spooky Season this fall!
