Modest Mouse Selling Over 500 Pieces of Gear and Memorabilia via Reverb

Modest Mouse are restocking their official Reverb shop with over 500 pieces of gear and memorabilia, starting on September 5th.

The band was among the major acts to launch an official Reverb shop in the past few years, selling one-of-a-kind items and instruments that were featured on album recordings, tours, or simply existed in frontman Isaac Brock’s exhaustive collection.

“I would go down to the music store, and I would just buy anything that looked interesting to me,” Brock told Reverb. “I could just take it back or resell it, but then I wouldn’t do that — I would be like, eh — you’ll have a purpose someday. I’d kind of panic that if I didn’t have a whole bunch of new gadgets and tools to work with, I was gonna make the same songs.”

The new drop adds hundreds of new items, including amps, synths, guitars, mics, and much more. The highlights include:

  • Four circuit bent Speak and Spells, including one used on “Wooden Soldiers” from the 2021 album The Golden Casket
  • A variety of synthesizers, including a Moog Sub 37 (used in the studio and on tour for the 2015 album Strangers to Ourselves), a Moog Mother-32, and a Arp Odyssey, among others
  • Several Fender amplifiers and a massive selection of effects pedals, from affordable stompboxes by Boss and TC Electronic to boutique pedals by Meris and Empress
  • A mammoth 150-watt Soursound Audio Custom Amp head, complete with its road case
  • Three gold Telefunken M80 microphones that have been used on Modest Mouse tours

The shop is also stocking Modest Mouse ephemera (posters, signs, etc.) dating back to 2001, as well as one particular oddity: a set of three connected stadium chairs that, according to Brock, were in the Shreveport Fairgrounds during the 1956 Elvis performance where the term “Elvis has left the building” was first used. All items will be fixed price (non-auction).

Meanwhile, Modest Mouse will be hauling the gear they aren’t selling on their upcoming tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of Good News For People Who Love Bad News. The trek kicks off in late October (get tickets here).

Visit Modest Mouse’s official Reverb Shop, where you’ll find several pieces of gear for sale now, and check back on September 5th for the newly added items. Below you can watch a clip of Brock discussing the gear and see photos of some of the highlight items.
